Ministries

Work God prepared in advance.

Quilts, a food line, Sunday School with Dave and Jan, and coffee after every service. This is what a parish looks like.

St. Mark Quilters

The ladies meet Tuesdays from 9:00 AM until noon in the lower level. Last year more than 400 quilts went out through Lutheran World Relief. If you can tie a knot, you can help. Flat sheets in good shape — any color — are always needed.

Sunday School & VBS

Sunday School is taught by Dave and Jan Krueger — games, crafts, and Bible stories for the children of the parish. The Board of Education (Robyn Willey, Britney Bolkema, Jan Krueger) oversees Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Classes resume September 13, 2026, the same morning as the church picnic.

Coffee ministry

Coffee and refreshments follow every service, Sunday and Thursday. Hosts are needed — take a turn alone, with a partner, or as a board. We also meet for lunch around town on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays at noon. The restaurant is posted in the bulletin. Call the office if you would like to come and not eat alone.

Food Pantry & Frederick House

St. Mark serves at the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry and supports Frederick House for neighbors who are temporarily homeless. The next pantry shift is Monday, August 31, 2:45–5:00 PM. Ten to twelve volunteers, including someone for the computer/scale station.

Evangelism & local missions

In 2025 the congregation sent $1,500 to New Dawn Pregnancy Center, $1,500 to the Domestic Violence Center, $1,170 to Camp Luther, and $500 to the By the Way radio program. Members added designated gifts for N.A.T.H., the food pantry, and SMP students. We also keep a booth at the Oneida County Fair.

Pastoral training · SMP

Vicar Andy Wyss is one year into Concordia Seminary’s Specific Ministry Pastor program. He studies, preaches, and serves here while the congregation underwrites the cost of raising up the next pastor. Year two is underway.
